Black Grouse sketches - April 2010

Here are a selection of sketchbook extracts from a recent session studying lekking Black Grouse in the north Pennines. This is the first time I've managed to obtain really good views of these wonderful birds, so a massive thanks to LW for his help and kindness in assisting me with a viewing hide.

I'm hoping to produce a series of new Black Grouse paintings for this year's birdfair at Rutland Water, so watch this space!
